
Specialty coffee drinks like cappuccino used to be hard to come by in most US localities. Lately, this market has grown to the point where it is difficult to find an area where a cappuccino is more than a few minutes down the road. Cappuccino is popular and to top it off (pun intended) a cappuccino is hardly recognizable without its customary dollop of whip topping.
The true barista prepared drinks are topped off by the barista. However, the growing use of automatic cappuccino machines now means that many a cup is offered for self service. The largest market where we see this is the convenience store industry. Previous means of offering self-service whip toppings have not been satisfactory. Aerosol cans out for public use are an open invitation to unsavory behaviors and spoilage of the dairy contents. Other alternatives require refrigeration and costly equipment.
